Decay is inspired by the unfortunate carcass of a little field mouse. It is covered by ants, who are meticulously picking it apart.
All that remains recognisable in the hive of activity is the little head, and front paw clutching a dry leaf. The spine is exposed and rests loosely on a sea of ants. It is the personification of the cycle of life.
The usage of graphite pencil is to add intricate detail of each ant as well as the intestines of the little mouse.
The background is filled with a blended texture of concrete, enveloping the central image and adding movement to the ants.
