Delusions of Disintegration – Torn Apart

$ 0.00

Medium: Graphite Pencil and Gold Metallic Paint on Paper

Size: A3

Nr 12 is torn apart with tentacles bursting from its centre. A thin golden line runs along the inside of the skull. The right eye is enlarged with a worm-like tentacle crawling out of it. The two halves are not symmetrical, symbolising the divide of conflicting thought. It also visually represents Alice in Wonderland Syndrome or Todd’s Syndrome: a rare condition where the sufferer discerns episodes of distorted perception and disorientation. Like Alice, you feel too big for a space you’re in, or extremely tiny. Objects may also feel further away than reality. This condition is not a hallucination, but changes in the brain that govern your environmental and bodily perception. Your hands might feel massive in comparison to the rest of your body.
